You wondered if it was a habit of his by now, whenever his eyes were closed for long periods of time. He was awake and alert, that you discovered when all of you still lived in his mansion. He could even navigate London better than you could, his eyes closed, your eyes wide and open.
Yet, the first time you had seen his eyes fully open, you felt like you were drowning, caught up in his icy blue eyes.

He blinked, a smile crossing his lips, those blue eyes lighting up dangerously.

“Stay close, dear. Can’t be too careless, now.”

Birds chirping in the trees, the breeze gentle, the brush dense. Things seemed to be going in your favor…
And then you heard the crack.

You freeze, covering your mouth and nose to muffle your breathing, trying to keep yourself hidden.

He couldn’t have found you this soon… right?

Suddenly, cold metal was pressed into your back, immobilizing you.

“…You made it this far at least.” the familiar voice said warmly. “You’re getting better.”

The gun barrel was removed from your back, letting you breathe.

His blue eyes held the tiniest bit of pride when you looked back at him.

You were honestly more worried when you couldn’t hear any sounds coming from Impey’s garage. No tinkering of tools, no pieces of metal scraping against each other, no massive explosions that scared the nearby wildlife.

It was almost quiet… too quiet.

Despite your better judgement, you decided to go check on him, to see if he was still alive, at least.

What greeted you was the tall man you called husband, the biggest grin on his face as he turned towards you.

“Beautiful, isn’t it? A hero for the ages, [Name].”

In front of both of you, laid…

A sandwich…?
