Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they’re here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday

It almost felt like a dream, seeing his name on that sheet of paper. He had finally been accepted into the Duel Academy, after working so hard to get his grades up. He almost didn’t want to move. Ruri had no such trouble however, practically screaming in his ear and hugging him so tightly. She was so proud of him, especially now that he was living his dream. Shun couldn’t help but give her a small smile in return. He felt proud too. He was finally on the road to becoming a Pro Duelist. He should be jumping for joy, yelling loud enough to alert the neighbors.

But that’s not how he rolled. Maybe once he was alone, he would finally let loose his excitement, but for now, Ruri was making enough noise for the both of them. And, that just felt like just enough.

Suddenly, I’m not half the man I used to be
There’s a shadow hanging over me.
Oh yesterday, came suddenly

It was an understatement that Ruri had been nervous her first day of kindergarten. Her mom and dad had to go to work, Shun was in a different class, her Baby Tiragon had to stay at home; she was all by herself in a room full of strangers.

And that scared her, and scared her bad.

It was the least Yuuya could do for Yuuto, offering his home to Ruri and Shun. Heartland was in no liveable condition, especially with how Ruri was now. He still wasn’t completely sure what had happened to her during her time in the Fusion Dimension, but even Shun was convinced it wasn’t the right time to take Ruri back to Heartland just yet. If nothing else, her health was so frail right now that being in Heartland, having barely any access to food, clean water, a doctor, breathing the ash-filled air, it might just kill her.

As much as it pained Shun, wanting to finally take Ruri home, he knew his only option right now was Standard.

She didn’t want to admit it, but she was getting sleepy, despite all the noise going on around her. Yuugo and Serena were still in an intense card game of War, neither wanting to give up easily. Yuzu was talking to Rin about this new singing and dancing video game that she adored, getting the other girl really excited and asking to play it the next time she came over. Shun stood in the corner, watching over all of them quietly while Gongenzaka watched Serena and Yuugo’s card game. Sawatari was getting something from the kitchen, Ruri couldn’t remember what it was.

She was currently sandwiched between Yuuto and Yuuya, both watching the game as well with vague interest, but bored by this point. Yuuya’s cat had also found a comfy spot on her lap, getting white hair all over her dress.

Not that she really minded. She’s had worse things on her clothes than cat hair.

For the life of him, Yuuto still couldn’t figure out the sequence of events that lead him to being left in a theme park in Standard alone with Ruri. And every time he did, it just made his head spin.Read more... )

His mother had been nervous when she had entered the ‘dating scene’ again, especially when they found out she had a seven year old son. Why would a guy want a gal that already had a kid? Not to mention Shun was quite a force on his own, making it known, loudly, when he didn’t approve of the guy. It was sweet that Shun thought the world of her, and was quite protective, but really…

He was only seven.

He hated it. He hated everything.

He hated being here. He wanted to be out with Yuuto. Why was Reiji Akaba even keeping him here–it just frustrated him to no end. He felt like a beast in a cage, just waiting for the next thing to come along and rattle the bars and he would be set off.

Yuuto was still out in Standard somewhere, Ruri was still captured by those Fusion Academia bastards, and what was he doing?

He was getting lunch in the LDS’s school cafeteria!
